We’ve had a wonderful couple of days experimenting, designing and making in KS2! Our project began with extensive research into Anglo-Saxon art and culture, focussing in on decorative pattern, and the hidden meanings. The children were sent outside to forage for materials, so they could make their own natural dyes Anglo-Saxon style. Embroidery stitches were practised in earnest, with help from some very kind (and patient) parents and grandparents (many thanks to you all)! These experiences created knowledge and influences that then enabled everyone to design their own patterns ready to embroider next term...watch this space!
