Now that it’s November and the temperatures are beginning to drop, we talked about bats hibernating…and where do they hibernate? Cool, damp places - like a bat cave! We also talked about how bats use echoes to help them fly and hunt because, as one of the children told us, bats don’t have very good sight.
Afterwards, some of the children painted bats or made pinecone bats - and then flapped around the woods!
We are very lucky that one of the older children is currently helping us at Forest School. This week, he led a small group to add to our drumming corner. He strung up some plastic bottles and changed the pitch of each one by adding water…the younger children loved it!
