Meet Our Mighty Falcons...

Hello and welcome to the Y5/6 Falcons family! We are very proud of the warm atmosphere we have in class and our new recruits fit right in - we are very pleased to be in the company of such a positive, friendly, upbeat group of children and predict a wonderful year ahead!

All the adults in Falcons work very hard to enable the children to be the very best they can possibly be - both academically and in terms of their wellbeing.  Mrs Bostock's expertise and knowledge is indispensable to us all, and we are joined by Mrs Edmunds this year - a welcome addition with her wealth of skills! We also have Mrs Fairhurst, Mrs Rae and Ms Paradiso contributing to give the children a rounded and interesting curriculum each week.

Good communication and mutual support between home and school is at the heart of our practice in Falcons and valued highly. Parents, your children come first, so please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns, no matter how trivial these may seem - we are here to help and keep everyone as happy as we can!

With warmest wishes,

Mrs Cartwright

Manor Adventure

We have had a lovely afternoon and evening of settling in, free time, orienteering and then a fab walk to Seifton across the fields.  It was just what the kids needed to unwind, relax and chat before going to bed😊
We are looking forward to a fun-packed day tomorrow, full of exciting activities!

Picnic enroute

We stopped off at Lake Cottage, Shropshire for a picnic enroute to Manor Adventure.  The sun shone and the children loved exploring the woods.  We are now making the short journey the Culmington with some VERY excited children (and staff!!)!

Young Voices 2022

It is always a long day but it is so worthwhile when the auditorium fills up with parents and the 6000 children from 114 schools have their audience.  The excitement begins to build when the Mexican waves start shortly before the singing and the 2 hour show zips by.  The singing and dancing was amazing and the children also loved listening to the beatboxing and watching Urban Strides.  Just a fantastic day and memorable experience for all of the children.

Huge thanks to Miss Reynolds for the extra singing lessons - and to our amazing parent helpers 😊

A few weeks ago, some Falcons found a caterpillar at Forest School and it started a discussion about what type of butterfly it might grow into. I then promised to send off for some caterpillars that we could watch grow and then release together at school once they were butterflies. Well, the baby 🐛 arrived on 5th April…10 days later and they were huge! Yesterday (18th) they were attached to the top of the pot and ‘bouncing’ around. This morning, we noticed our first chrysalis. It could be up to 14 days before the first butterfly emerges, the the metamorphosis countdown is on! Can you use the ID chart to identify the butterfly that we will have?🦋

Our last session before the end of term started with an Easter hunt with puzzles to solve #teamwork.  For the rest of the afternoon, the children built on previously learned skills; mallet-making using a saw, hatchet and then whittling, some epic spear whittling (this took two weeks to finish!), Easter wreath making, planting, firelighting with homemade firelighters and some awesome den building.
It’s been a delight to have this group out with us over the last few weeks; to see them working together, using tools with confidence and showing true determination and perseverance 😊
