Welcome one and all...

...to this year's Falcons class! We are delighted to see everyone back after such a long time apart, and it's fantastic to have some brand new recruits as well!

This year is going to be one of hard work, there is no doubt about that, but we are all raring to go! I am so lucky to be working with such a brilliant group of children. Our class has already established a warm, family feel which has come very naturally as everyone seems to gel together really well. It's really important to me that the children in my care feel secure and at home, and I can't wait to see what they are capable of as we progress through the year together.

Added to the mix is Mrs Bostock. In all our time at this school we have never shared a class, and I know her expertise and knowledge will be indispensable to us all! I am also very pleased that we have not had to say a complete good-bye to Miss Kearvell, she will be back with us each Friday and this will be a lovely end to the week.

And parents - don't be strangers! I know contact is difficult at the moment but I am only an email away, and if there are any issues or concerns I would rather know in the early stages, no matter how small they may seem. We both have your child's best interests at heart and good communication is an important part of that.

So let's put the past few months behind us and focus on year ahead, the only way is up!

With warm wishes,

Miss Kerr

Netball success!

We were super proud of our netball team at the partnership event in Burford.  They very quickly started the afternoon with a win and just seemed to get better and better as time went on.  Their passes were slick and their shots became increasingly accurate. They thoroughly deserve their place in the next small schools round, which will be held on 16th March at Wood Green School.  Well done!!

Year 5 and 6 Indoor Athletics

On Tuesday 24th January, Years 5 and 6 took part in an indoor athletics tournament at Burford Secondary School. Throughout the day, the children were positive, well-behaved and cheered each other on. Great team spirit, kiddies!

Going for Goals

Our current topic in PSHE is 'Going for Goals'. On Monday, the children spent the lesson teaching each other different skills, hobbies or talents. These included dances, playing instruments, flying helicopters and even making milkshakes! They all had lots of fun and seemed to enjoy being the teacher for a change!

Sewing

As our current topic is textiles, Mrs Doran very kindly came in to support the children with their sewing skills. She taught them how to do a running stitch, so they could practise in preparation for the bunting we are going to make as a class! The children had lots of fun and thoroughly enjoyed making different designs and patterns.

Thank you, Mrs Doran!

Years 5 and 6 Football Tournament

On Thursday 1st December some very enthusiastic and energetic footballers from year 5 and 6 participated in an extremely competitive tournament at Buford Secondary School. The team work and spirit was fantastic and there were some very triumphant moments for us. Although we finished 6th out of 8 schools, two of the higher places were tied and we managed to pull off some exceptional performances against some very competitive sides. Well done to everybody who took part!
