Welcome to Voyager Class!

Welcome one and all!

In Voyagers, our philosophy is simple. We strive to do our best, approaching each new challenge with fortitude and a ‘can do’ attitude.

We may find new concepts hard to begin with but, with determination and perseverance, we will get there together!

All areas of the curriculum are equally important: some subjects provide challenges and some enable us to shine. Some give us mountains to climb and the satisfaction of reaching the summit, with a glorious fist pump. Others enable us to develop skills in areas in which we are confident, permitting the well-earned glow of further success. For each of us, these challenges are different – how wonderful that we are all individual!

Whatever the challenge, we do it together. Every single member of the Voyagers class is of equal importance and value. We look after each other and applaud the successes of each individual.

We are so lucky that Miss Kearvell and Mrs Mulcahy join our team to help us on our journey. Their invaluable assistance and encouragement promotes our learning and development.

Parents, please remember that your input is invaluable and greatly appreciated. Feel free to approach any one of us whenever you have a concern or something to share. An appointment is not necessary. The door is always open!

Our class name could not be more apt – it is a vital link with our community but also represents the ability of each and every one of us to fly!

Let’s approach our time together with a positive attitude and the anticipation of that wonderful phrase: ‘Yes! I get it!’

Off we go!

Writing Workshop

Two of our boys, Zach and Fin, were chosen for a Gifted and Talented writing workshop at Magdalen College School, Oxford, held over three days. It included working with the author Caroline Lawrence (author of the fantastic Roman Mysteries books) and gaining inspiration from the Oxford Museum of the History of Science.

Rugby Win!

On Wednesday 16th March, we took a team of Year 5 and 6 children to the partnership tag rugby tournament at Buford School.

The children were brilliant; immediately working as a team and playing to each others strengths.  Passing was great - as was tagging - and we had some VERY speedy players that managed to swerve and dodge past the other teams with ease.  At the end of the tournament, nearly all of the children on the team had scored at least one try.

We won 5 matches, drew one and lost one in some very tough games.  The children were a credit to the school and thoroughly deserved their win; well done!

The next round of the tag rugby will be on Wednesday 20th April at Witney Rugby Club 3.30 - 5pm.

Year 5 and 6 Netball Tournament

After a bit of a slow start, our netball squad pulled together to come joint third in the partnership netball tournament.  The children were fantastic and played many games back to back with end to end excitement.  After our initial loss, we went on to win 4 of our games with score lines of 7-6 and 7-4; it was VERY exciting and we were immensely proud of their team spirit and sportsmanship.  Well done!!

Y6 IMPS

Year 6 enjoyed a morning at Witney Hospital learning accident prevention and first aid, as part of the Injury Minimisation Programme for Schools. If anything goes wrong, we know who to call!

Oxford Playhouse Aladdin

The whole school visited Aladdin at the Oxford Playhouse and our very own Abanazar was invited on stage.
