Welcome to Hercules Class!

Welcome to the Hercules Home Page!

We have lots of wonderful Year 2 and 3 children in our class. To support us within the classroom we have the fantastic Miss Glenister, Mrs Deegan and Mrs Williams.

We believe that time within school needs to be happy and safe which in turn will promote successful learning. Work should be a challenge in order to build on previous knowledge. Children need to believe in themselves to be able to tackle any given challenges. Mistakes will be made along the way (by us too!) and this is OK!  We need to learn from our mistakes and develop our knowledge to a greater depth.

We encourage the children in the class to speak out. If there are any concerns or successes, we want to know! And this is the same for parents. Please feel free to talk to us at any appropriate time. Unfortunately time can be limited for parents at the beginning or end of the day, but feel free to make an appointment and we will always make time for you. We are in a partnership to help develop your child’s independence, learning and happiness.

We look forward to what lies ahead these coming terms. We have many exciting things planned and we are looking forward to the Hercules class continuing to grow together.

The Adventures of Robin Hood

We have been learning all about Robin Hood's adventures. We've started looking at how Robin Hood became an outlaw and wanted to help the poor.

To help us remember the story we put actions to the sentences and drew our own story maps.

See if we can perform the actions to you and see how much we know.

Hawkings Class Bears Adventures

Not only have the children been getting used to a new class but they've also been getting used to two new class members. Lily and Harry (names chosen by the children) get to go home with two children on a Friday and come back to class on Wednesday and share all the adventures they've been getting up to during that week.

Imogen and Luke got to take them home in the first week and the whole class enjoyed hearing what they got up to.

Oscar and Jamie get to take them home this week, we can't wait to hear what they got up to!!

KS2 trip to Chedworth Roman Villa

On Monday 10th July the whole of Key Stage 2 visited Chedworth Roman Villa to help bring our Romans topic to life. It was a really magical day.

We all experienced being archaeologists by working out what the Romans would have eaten and drunk by studying real artefacts, such as bones, rocks, metalware and earthenware.

We also had an amazing tour of the excavated site and could imagine what it would have been like to take a bath (a lot of oil and scraping), dine, make offerings to the gods, walk along the beautiful and intricate mosaics and use the 'lavatorium'!

In one workshop we dressed up as Roman slaves and were allocated jobs. We had to wear tags around our necks and sacks as tunics. We also ground up herbs and spices that the Romans would have used to cure illnesses or help people sleep.

A lot of fun was had and a lot of learning was done by all!
