Welcome to Hercules Class!

Welcome to the Hercules Home Page!

We have lots of wonderful Year 2 and 3 children in our class. To support us within the classroom we have the fantastic Miss Glenister, Mrs Deegan and Mrs Williams.

We believe that time within school needs to be happy and safe which in turn will promote successful learning. Work should be a challenge in order to build on previous knowledge. Children need to believe in themselves to be able to tackle any given challenges. Mistakes will be made along the way (by us too!) and this is OK!  We need to learn from our mistakes and develop our knowledge to a greater depth.

We encourage the children in the class to speak out. If there are any concerns or successes, we want to know! And this is the same for parents. Please feel free to talk to us at any appropriate time. Unfortunately time can be limited for parents at the beginning or end of the day, but feel free to make an appointment and we will always make time for you. We are in a partnership to help develop your child’s independence, learning and happiness.

We look forward to what lies ahead these coming terms. We have many exciting things planned and we are looking forward to the Hercules class continuing to grow together.

Help from the National Curriculum...

Dear Parents,

I received the attached today. I haven't looked at any of it yet, but you may find it helpful.

All the best,

Reading Eggs

Log in to Reading Eggs to find your comprehension and spelling activity. I have also chosen a science book for you to read from the Library. Enjoy!

Power Maths

I hope you are all enjoying working in your Power Maths books. You can choose which pages or sections you would like to work on but please aim for at least 3 pages per day. It is also important to continue with daily 'times table practise' as this will help you in all areas of maths. Remember to use concrete resources, pictorial jottings and abstract methods to help you work out the answers. If you would like to check your work, please use the answer books- this will help you to make sure you are on the right track.

I am also attaching a list of useful websites as they may be able to help you with your learning while school is closed. Have a little explore today! Which one is your favourite?

Art Lesson 23/03/20

We all know that learning to read, write and solve mathematical problems is SUPER important BUT... it is also EQUALLY important to be creative and express yourself. (Especially during tricky times).

David Hockney (a famous artist) painted this spring picture to cheer everybody up while he was self-isolating in the South of France. Draw/paint your own spring picture and give it to someone you know. It will make their day! I would love to see photos of your pictures before you give them to somebody - email a photo to me if you can.

Good luck! Mrs M x

David Hockney unveiled this painting and wrote: "Do remember they can't cancel the spring."

What will you call your creative masterpiece?
