Welcome to Hercules Class!
Welcome to Hercules Class!
We have lots of wonderful Year 2 and 3 children in our class. To support us within the classroom we have the fantastic Mrs Kearvell and Mrs Edmonds. And on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon the lovely Mrs Rae will be taking the class for Forest School and PE.
I believe that time within school needs to be happy and safe which in turn will promote successful learning. Work should be a challenge in order to build on previous knowledge. Children need to believe in themselves to be able to tackle any given challenges. Mistakes will be made along the way (by myself too!) and this is OK! We need to learn from our mistakes and develop our knowledge to a greater depth.
I encourage the children of my class to speak out. If there are any concerns or successes, I want to know! And this is the same for parents. Please feel free to talk to me at any appropriate time. Unfortunately time can be limited for parents at the beginning or end of the day, but feel free to make an appointment and I will always make time for you. We are in a partnership to help develop your child’s independence, learning and happiness.
I look forward to what lies ahead this coming year. We have many exciting things planned and I am looking forward to the Hercules class growing together.

Multi Skills Festival
We had a fab time at Burford this morning. We did different activities in groups with other children from different schools.
The students a Burford planned the activities that we did and made the whole morning lovely.
Class full of musicians
The children have been learning about staff notation and learning what different notes sound like when they are played.
The children have been writing their own music and today they finally got to perform they pieces in front of the whole class.
The children have really enjoyed playing the boomwackers I can’t imagine why...
We watched a video of children performing different songs using the boomwackers and now we want to learn a song as a class and perform it, we can’t wait!!
World Book Day!!
The children have had a fab day today! We've had lots of different costumes and characters.
Even I've learnt some new books to add to my reading list. It's lovely to see the children dressing up and enjoying reading. They even shared why they chose to come to school as that character.
Our class prize went to Freya for her fab mad hatter outfit, but it was very difficult for me to choose as they were all brilliant!
Today we had Les and Wendy come and visit our classroom to see what we have been up to with our Neighbour Hood Plan. We showed them our models, designs and questionnaires. We then presented our findings and why we have chosen to improve the village.
They were so interested with our ideas and loved our models that we created. They even bought sweets into the class as prizes for our hard work. Les and Wendy had a tricky decision to make in choosing which group had the best ideas and presented well.
They couldn't make a decision between them so they awarded a mini trophy to the whole class for their hard work and lovely ideas. They praised some of the groups who had though out of the box with their designs.
I'm so proud of the hard work the children have put into this topic and how fab they were today. Well Done Everyone!!!
'The best day ever!'
After an amazing talk and book signing with Jay Jay Burridge, the children were organised into groups and spent the rest of their day moving around the school to take part in activities led by staff. The children were absorbed in making dinosaur inspired iMovie trailers, painting, looking at fossils, creating play dough/pasta dinosaurs and uncovering bones. It was so lovely to hear them talk about their creations, and explain what they had made, why they had come up with the idea and the name they were going to give it. The children worked so well together and it was wonderful to hear one Year 6 say, 'This is the best day ever!'
