Welcome to Hercules Class!

Welcome to Hercules Class!

We have lots of wonderful Year 2 and 3 children in our class. To support us within the classroom we have the fantastic Mrs Kearvell and Mrs Edmonds. And on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon the lovely Mrs Rae will be taking the class for Forest School and PE.

I believe that time within school needs to be happy and safe which in turn will promote successful learning. Work should be a challenge in order to build on previous knowledge. Children need to believe in themselves to be able to tackle any given challenges. Mistakes will be made along the way (by myself too!) and this is OK! We need to learn from our mistakes and develop our knowledge to a greater depth.

I encourage the children of my class to speak out. If there are any concerns or successes, I want to know! And this is the same for parents. Please feel free to talk to me at any appropriate time. Unfortunately time can be limited for parents at the beginning or end of the day, but feel free to make an appointment and I will always make time for you. We are in a partnership to help develop your child’s independence, learning and happiness.

I look forward to what lies ahead this coming year. We have many exciting things planned and I am looking forward to the Hercules class growing together.

Calling All Designers!!

To get their creativity flowing, national broadcaster ITV has announced its new initiative: ITV Kids Create. It is encouraging kids across the UK to be creative while at home and submit their artwork for a chance to have it featured on ITV’s idents (the ITV logos broadcast before and after ad breaks).

How can my kids get involved?

ITV said in a statement: “We are making a very special ITV logo featuring artwork created by kids at home across the nation. "So, for a chance to be part of it, draw, paint or sketch us your best picture. Then ask your parent or guardian to post a photo of your artwork using #ITVKidsCreate and @ITV to Twitter or Instagram.” You can download the ITV template from itv.com/itv-kids-create, and start colouring in. Drawings must be on an A4 size piece of paper and the submission must be a photograph of this drawing. To submit a picture via social media, simply visit ITV’s Instagram or Twitter page and tag @ITV and use the hashtag #ITVKidsCreate. If ITV like the image, a member of the team will contact you by direct message on these platforms. As many pictures as possible will be used, with on-screen credit for each submission broadcast and they will be on ITV this month. Submissions open today, Monday April 6 and close on Sunday April 19 at midnight.

Why not have a go? Good luck if you do! Miss Burn x

Easter Makes...

Calling all Brize Norton Bunnies....

I saw this on Pinterest (can't take the credit unfortunately) and thought it would be a wonderful thing to do over the Easter break for the following reasons:

1. You can spend time helping your parents sort out the socks...if they are anything like me they will have quite a collection of odd ones...see pic!

2. You can make yourself some new friends to talk to!

3. The bunnies are really easy to make - although don't use rice if you can help it (what with food/shopping etc being as it is).

I have taken screen shots of the instructions, but you may find it easier to watch the Handimania clip on YouTube (as long as you have your parent's permission.) I have included a screenshot of how to find it - there are a few on there by other people, but this is the one you need: No-sew Sock Bunny - Easter Craft Ideas #2 - YouTube

Good luck and send me your bunny pics - I can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

Calling All Harry Potter Fans!

The lovely J.K. Rowling has just launched 'Harry Potter at Home.' This is an online hub that is full of activities, puzzles, quizzes... and even audiobooks! I think we could all do with a little magic and fun in our lives at the moment so give the website a go this week! Mrs Mills x
