Welcome to The Hurricane Class!
We have had a great start to 2020, the children have settled well into the new class routine with Mrs Conner now on maternity leave. Mrs Hunter teaches all day on a Monday and Tuesday afternoons with myself teaching the rest of the week. We have a wonderful team working in the class each morning, Mrs Sutherland (Monday’s and Tuesdays), Mrs Mulcahy (Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays) and Mrs Webb who is with us every morning.
The Buccaneer Year 1 children stay with us for Phonics, English and Maths each morning and for PE, Music, RE, PSHE and Computing in the afternoons. They join the Buccaneer class on Wednesday and Friday afternoons for Science and History.
If you have any questions or concerns please do come and see me, if I’m not available please contact the school office to arrange a time. Thank you for your support so far whilst both classes have been adjusting to the change.

Eight of our ten eggs hatched and we have five boys and three girls. Class 1 and Class 2 had great fun naming the chicks, everyone wrote a name on a piece of paper, we put them all in a bowl and mixed them up to choose. Our boys are Max, Flash, Biscotti, Fred and Felix. Our girls are Rapunzel, Chickedy-Grace and Lilly. Ask your children how we can tell them apart!
The chicks have spent time Class 1 and Class 2 and all children have had a chance to hold them. We have been caring for them daily and observing their changes, they grow so quickly! Next week they will be moving out to the Foundation garden before going to their new homes before half term, so if you haven't come and had a peek, please come and look.
The chicks have arrived
Class 1 and 2 were very excited on Tuesday to receive delivery of an incubator and ten eggs ready to hatch. Phil from Living Eggs showed us how to look after the eggs and how to set up the brooder box to care for the chicks after they have hatched. We will need to feed them and give them fresh water twice a day.
Then, this morning, when children arrived at school four of the eggs had already hatched! When they had dried and fluffed up we could see two are yellow and two are brown, that means we have two girls and two boys so far. Another chick hatched this evening, just before Mrs Winter went home, I wonder how many there will be by the morning?
Children are very much looking forward to holding the chicks on Friday and having a cuddle. We will also be naming the chicks so start thinking of ideas...

The Story Museum
We had a brilliant time at The Oxford Story Museum before the Easter Holiday. They exist to celebrate children's stories! What fun!!
