Welcome to The Hurricanes Class.

We are a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class with space for 20 Year 1 and 10 Year 2 children. Our teacher is Mrs. Winter with Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Mulchay and Miss Kearvell supporting across the week. We aim to provide a supportive, nurturing environment where children can continue to progress on their learning journey and meet their potential. Children should feel secure to make mistakes as well as celebrate achievements.

We believe education to be a partnership between school and home, working together to meet the needs of every child. Communication is key to this partnership so please come and talk to us if you have any worries or concerns, or want to share your child's successes. If you wish to have a longer conversation, please make an appointment so we have time to listen.

We look forward to supporting your children as they continue to develop and grow.

Why do we like our village?

On Friday 17th November Kennedy and Nightingale classes went for a walk around Brize Norton.  Next year we will be taking part in the village plan so in preparation for this we began thinking about all the good things we can enjoy in our village.  Children liked the open spaces to play and explore, they thought the village looked pretty and everyone loved the park!

Children In Need 2017

Just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for your support with Children in Need this year. We managed to raise £152, which is amazing! We also managed to fill Pudsey with all of the coins.

It lovely it was to see the children dressed in their spotty costumes. Lauren in Curie class won the KS2 prize and Ruby in Kennedy class won the KS1 prize.

Thank you again for your donations, it all goes to a great cause!!

Our focus has been Information Texts in class with a particular focus on sea animals.  The children studied facts about their sea animal and then made books, mobiles and these absolute amazing aquariums with their families.  I was so impressed!

Topic: Toys from the Past

In our topic this term, we have been learning about Toys from the Past.  Last week, we discussed how we have changed.  Children brought in photographs of them as babies and we compared what they could do then and what they could do now.   Thank you to Mrs. Rowlands (Spencers mum) and Mrs. Bathe (William B.'s mum) for bringing in your darling babies and answering our questions.

This week we have began exploring toys from the past and comparing them to toys from today.  We made our wooden puppets with or parents in our sharing assembly. They came out lovely and the children can't wait to bring them home!

We will be visiting the Oxfordshire Museum next week with Nightingales Class to take part in their Victorian Toys and Games workshop.

100% Spellers!  Way to go!  Friday, 17/11!
