Welcome to The Hurricanes Class.
We are a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class with space for 20 Year 1 and 10 Year 2 children. Our teacher is Mrs. Winter with Mrs. Sutherland supporting. We aim to provide a supportive, nurturing environment where children can continue to progress on their learning journey and meet their potential. Children should feel secure to make mistakes as well as celebrate achievements.
We believe education to be a partnership between school and home, working together to meet the needs of every child. Communication is key to this partnership so please come and talk to us if you have any worries or concerns, or want to share your child's successes. If you wish to have a longer conversation, please make an appointment so we have time to listen.
We look forward to supporting your children as they continue to develop and grow.

Reception and Year 1 heard all about Mango and her pet tapir Bambang on the Bookfeast. Here are our pictures.
Eight of our ten eggs hatched and we have five boys and three girls. Class 1 and Class 2 had great fun naming the chicks, everyone wrote a name on a piece of paper, we put them all in a bowl and mixed them up to choose. Our boys are Max, Flash, Biscotti, Fred and Felix. Our girls are Rapunzel, Chickedy-Grace and Lilly. Ask your children how we can tell them apart!
The chicks have spent time Class 1 and Class 2 and all children have had a chance to hold them. We have been caring for them daily and observing their changes, they grow so quickly! Next week they will be moving out to the Foundation garden before going to their new homes before half term, so if you haven't come and had a peek, please come and look.
The chicks have arrived
Class 1 and 2 were very excited on Tuesday to receive delivery of an incubator and ten eggs ready to hatch. Phil from Living Eggs showed us how to look after the eggs and how to set up the brooder box to care for the chicks after they have hatched. We will need to feed them and give them fresh water twice a day.
Then, this morning, when children arrived at school four of the eggs had already hatched! When they had dried and fluffed up we could see two are yellow and two are brown, that means we have two girls and two boys so far. Another chick hatched this evening, just before Mrs Winter went home, I wonder how many there will be by the morning?
Children are very much looking forward to holding the chicks on Friday and having a cuddle. We will also be naming the chicks so start thinking of ideas...
