Welcome to The Hurricanes Class.

We are a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class with space for 20 Year 1 and 10 Year 2 children. Our teacher is Mrs. Winter with Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Mulchay and Miss Kearvell supporting across the week. We aim to provide a supportive, nurturing environment where children can continue to progress on their learning journey and meet their potential. Children should feel secure to make mistakes as well as celebrate achievements.

We believe education to be a partnership between school and home, working together to meet the needs of every child. Communication is key to this partnership so please come and talk to us if you have any worries or concerns, or want to share your child's successes. If you wish to have a longer conversation, please make an appointment so we have time to listen.

We look forward to supporting your children as they continue to develop and grow.

Reading Buddies for Book Week!

More pictures from reading buddies the week!  Our students truly enjoyed reading with a partner during snack/story.  Was lovely seeing how engaged they all were!

Dinotastic Author Visit

We were so lucky to have local author, Jay Jay Burridge, visit us today to talk about his amazing Supersaurs books.  The children were privileged to spend over an hour with him as he explained how his series of books came about in which humans live alongside dinosaurs.  It was fascinating to discover how he used real life events and pictures to help conjure up images of humans riding dinosaurs or working alongside them.  Gradually his pictures evolved and along came this amazing idea on which his Supersaurs books are based.  It was a story of creativity, overcoming difficulties and perseverance; a truly inspiring talk...you can do anything if you put your mind to it!

Paired Reading

Book week got off to a great start with some lovely paired reading during snack and story time.  It was the perfect opportunity for older children to get together with younger ones, relax and share a book.  All of the children seemed to love it, and are looking forward to moving around the other classes during the week.
