Mrs Winter's week 8

My most exciting news this week is that the swan's eggs have finally hatched. On Thursday I saw six signets swimming in the river at the bottom of the field outside our garden, where we often go for walks. Mummy and Daddy Swan look very proud of their new babies, who like to go for rides on their parent's backs, tucked under their wings, when they get a bit tired.

Somebody from our class has been for a walk in the village where I live this week, can you work out who it was? Edan and I made you some picture clues (you will have to look at the Home Learner pictures for this week too). After our walk we had a rest in the sunshine on my new bench in the allotment.

Edan has been keeping busy too, strimming back the nettles so we can go out into the field and tying back the roses at the front of the house. It was also his birthday on Monday so I made him a chocolate cake and we had a zoom meeting with friends to sing Happy Birthday.

On Friday Benny and I went for a socially distanced walk with my Dad and his dog Bingo. Although I have been delivering his shopping every week, this was the first time we have spent any time together; the dogs also enjoyed playing in the river and running in the fields.

Don't forget to send me photos of what you have been doing too.

Buccaneers Home Learners week 8

Thank you to all of you who have shared photos of your activities this week, it is always lovely to see how you are learning at home and having fun as well.

It is good to see you finding creative ways to complete your learning, like sorting play foods in to healthy and unhealthy groups. I particularly like seeing how some of you are using your cubes to measure your cheese straws and a super picture of them all in size order! It is nice to see people beginning to harvest from your garden, I have lots of rhubarb in my allotment and should make some crumble too. It is also lovely to see how neighbourhoods came together to celebrate VE day.

Well done to those of you who have written letters to your Pen Pals this week. I can see how hard you are all working on your writing and I know you are enjoying receiving messages from your friends.

Keep up all the great work Buccaneers. If you haven't sent me any pictures this week there is still time.

Thank you also to all the Mum's and Dad's who have already sent me phonics assessment grids, it is all looking really good. You are all doing an amazing job as 'Home Teachers'.

Have a relaxing weekend

Pen Pals Project week 3

If you are taking part in Pen Pals this week please read the guidance below, it is the same as in this weeks Home Learning guidance but I have changed the day to return to me to Friday to give you a little more time.

1) Draw a picture of you in the middle, your previous partner on one side and your new partner on the other (making a chain).

2) Add labels to your picture with everyone’s names.

3) Tell your new partner who you were writing to previously.

4) Tell them a piece of information about your previous partner.

5) Tell them something you have done this week as well.

Example: Dear Pen Pal, I have been writing to Mrs Malcahy. She has a dog called Mavis and likes gardening too. This week I have been baking cakes. I look forward to hearing from you. From Mrs Winter.

As previously please encourage your child to write their letter to support their understanding of writing for a purpose and motivation to put into practice their phonics and handwriting skills.

Once your child has completed their picture, labeling and writing, as before, please take a photograph of it and send to me via my contact email. I will wait until Friday so everyone has a chance to complete then will forward to your partner once everyone has responded so they can read it.

I hope you are enjoying receiving messages from your friends.

Research a country

I wanted to share with you this excellent project completed by Arthur who chose Australia as his county to find out about. I know several of you have also completed projects researching different countries; if you want to send me pictures of your work I will add them to this post.

Buccaneers Home Learning wb:11.05.20

Please find attached the Home Learning guidance for this week.

This week I have numbered all the attachments (A1-20) and have labelled them within the planning to hopefully enable you to find the resources quickly and easily (annoyingly I don't think they saved in sequence but just look at the number at the start). Please let me know how you find this, I am hoping it is easier than lots of different posts or a long, jumbled list.

I will be emailing you individually to let you know the next steps for phonics.

Pen Pals: I will post separately regarding next steps for the project.
