Throughout the year we have a range of events which involve all our children. School plays, book events, sports days, art events... look here to see what we have been up to.

Christmas craft morning

We had great fun at the Christmas craft morning on Saturday 28th November! Thank you to all the wonderful parents and teachers who came along and gave the children such fun things to do.

Cross country

On Friday 20th November, an intrepid team from Brize Norton braved the cold weather to compete in the inter-school cross country races at Cokethorpe School. The race was long and hard, but they all persevered and managed to complete the course, many of them running for the farthest they had ever done (in one go) in their lives. Particular mention needs to go to Matthew Webster, who came third in the Y6 boys' race, Toby Clarke, who came fourth in the Y5 race, and Anna Pratley who, despite having completed the Y5 race, proceeded to run again with the Y6 boys! The children had a lot of fun and also enjoyed the hot chocolate and doughnuts afterwards. Yum!

Year 5 and 6 win!

On 18th November, some of our Year 5 and 6's took part in a football tournament at Buford Secondary School.  They worked together and organised themselves as a team with a solid formation - which seemed to pay off!  There were some excellent saves from William and goals galore from other team members.  Their hard work and team spirit in the cold, wind and rain paid off - and they came 1st!  Well done all of you - and thank you to Mr Webster for helping to guide and coach them.

Mrs Fairhurst's trip to Japan

Over October half term, Mrs Fairhurst was lucky enough to join a headteachers' tour of Japan, funded by the Japan Foundation as part of their support for schools teaching Japanese language. She visited two schools, one in Tokyo and one in Kyoto, where she learned that Japanese children are very similar to British ones, for all that they clean their own classrooms and serve dinner to each other. One school even had a sixth-floor swimming pool with lowerable floor! Mrs Fairhurst also saw the sights of both cities, including travelling on the famous Bullet Train. Marvellous!

Harvest Festival

"It's another Harvest Festival, when we bring our fruit and vegetables!" as the song goes. Thank you very much to Rev James Maddern and everyone at St Britius' Church for making us feel so welcome when we held our Harvest Festival there. We sang songs, said prayers and readings we had written and donated food for The Porch, the shelter for homeless people in Oxford.
