As well as Physical Education lessons, children at Brize Norton take part in a wide range of sporting activities.

All children in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 go swimming with the school. In order to keep the cost down for parents, and because the number of lessons offered to each child goes well over the National Curriculum expectations, the school subsidises the lessons with the PE and Sports Grant, although parents are asked for a contribution.

Within our 2019 - 20 Y6 cohort:

Number who can swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres (Stage 5): 69% (last year 53%)

Number who can use a range of strokes effectively (Stage 5): 69% (last year 53%)

Number who can perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations (Stage 6): 19%

We offer a range of after-school clubs related to sport. Here are the clubs we ran in 2019 - 20:

Cross Country

Special events

Over the year, every child takes part in at least one sporting event with other schools, many of which are organised as part of the Burford Partnership. Most of these events focus on participation and having fun, and there are some extra events for specific groups of children which are competitive, leading up to county finals.

Some of the events scheduled for 2021 - 22 are:

As part of the 2012 Olympics legacy, all schools are given money to spend on PE and school sport. See the attached documents for how we spent it lat year and the impact it has had, as well as our planning for this year.
