Dinotastic Author Visit

We were so lucky to have local author, Jay Jay Burridge, visit us today to talk about his amazing Supersaurs books.  The children were privileged to spend over an hour with him as he explained how his series of books came about in which humans live alongside dinosaurs.  It was fascinating to discover how he used real life events and pictures to help conjure up images of humans riding dinosaurs or working alongside them.  Gradually his pictures evolved and along came this amazing idea on which his Supersaurs books are based.  It was a story of creativity, overcoming difficulties and perseverance; a truly inspiring talk...you can do anything if you put your mind to it!

We the Curious

What a fantastic day we had in Bristol at We the Curious! We zoomed off into space in the planetarium, created our own stop motion animations, made giant bubbles, tested parachutes, explored virtual reality and made music - all topped off with a trip to the gift shop of course! We would like to say a big thank you to all of the children for their enthusiasm, excitement and delightful behaviour. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day out.

Forces fun

We've been learning all about forces for the last few weeks and today our focus was on air resistance. We split into pairs and small groups to investigate "which material makes the best parachute?" And "what size paper makes the best parachute?" The children had lots of fun testing out their parachutes today - I think a big part of that came from being allowed to stand on the benches!

Y5 Indoor Athletics

Another great partnership sporting event at Burford School. Well done to all our amazing Year 5s.

IMPS

On Thursday 18th January, Years 5 and 6 went on a trip to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford to learn all about keeping safe. The children learned how to give CPR, use a defibrillator and put someone in the recovery position, so if you have an emergency - you know who to call!
